Selective Advancement in Apparel Design & Production Specialization

Fall Application (Adobe Acrobat) and Essay due Friday, October 24, 2008.
In-House Charette (Testing) Date is Saturday, November 22, 2008.

Spring Application and Essay due Friday, March 13, 2009.
In-House Test Date is Saturday, April 25, 2009.

Students applying to the Apparel Design and Production (ADP) specialization first are admitted to Apparel and Textiles. Students who have completed the prerequisite courses may apply for advancement to the ADP specialization. Advancement is predicated on performance of the requirements below; including verification of final grades in pre-requisite courses in-progress at time of application. Students will be notified of results approximately 30 days following the test date.

Requirements for application to the ADP Specialization:

  • Submit application form (Adobe Acrobat) that contains contact information, prerequisite requirement checklist, and essay form. The essay is a one-page statement of student’s career goals and how advancement into the ADP Specialization will help achieve those goals.
  • Have earned a “C” grade or higher for the following prerequisite courses. The student may be enrolled in these courses during the semester he or she applies. Grades will be verified at the end of the semester:
    • AT 245 - Apparel and Textile Industry
    • AT 300 - Apparel Production
    • AT 340 - Aesthetics of Apparel and Textiles
  • Have earned a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5.
  • Participate in an in-house test to demonstrate application skills in design, aesthetics, and construction; and professional skills of performing under pressure, creativity, time management, and problem solving. Further information will be emailed to applicants.
  • Transfer students must have transfer equivalency for prerequisite courses.

Criteria for Selection to the ADP Specialization:

Selection will be based on the numeric grades of the four courses listed above, overall grade point average, grade on the essay, and grade on the test.

Effective Date:

New or returning enrollments starting Fall 2005.

* The student may be enrolled in these courses during the semester he or she applies. Grades will be verified at the end of the semseter.
