Facts, Stats and Accreditations

The Department of Apparel, Textiles, and Interior Design is a leader in apparel/product development, apparel merchandising, and interior design fields. Highlights of our programs include:

  • The National Association of Schools of Art & Design (NASAD) have accredited the apparel design and interior design programs.
  • The Council for Interior Design Accreditation has accredited the interior design program.
  • DesignIntelligence and the Almanac for Architecture & Design consistently rank the interior design program at Kansas State University among the top four in the country.  Among ranked programs, KSU's ID program is also among the top-two ranked Human Ecology-based interior design programs in the US.
  • Graduates of our design programs are making great advances in the design capitals of the world. Many of our graduates go on to jobs with leading apparel and interior design firms ranging from Ralph Lauren to Gensler Architecture, Design and Planning Worldwide.
  • Graduates of our apparel marketing programs are climbing the corporate ladder in national and international companies such as Dillard’s, Neiman Marcus, The Gap, The Limited, Eddie Bauer, Banana Republic and Aveda.
  • The Department is home to the K-State Costume and Textiles Museum, an impressive collection of more than 15,000 rare and priceless garments and textiles donated by alumni and friends over the past century. Items date back to the 1700s, and include clothing and textiles from across the globe. The museum is a teaching collection that enhances academic teaching and research.
