Short Biography:
Professor Smit has taught at K-State for 23 years, coming here after teaching at the University of Maryland and at the University of Iowa. She is the author/coauthor of several major studies establishing norms for the acquisition of speech sounds. She is also the author of a resource book for clinicians on speech sound disorders, as well as several book chapters. She has served as an editorial consultant and associate editor of journals in her field. Her current research is about the effectiveness of a form of intervention she has developed for preschoolers who have moderate to severe speech sound disorders.
