Short Biography:
Dr. Meyer-Brosdahl received her B.S. in Home Economics Education from Iowa State University, an M.S. in Textile and Apparel Management from the University of Missouri-Columbia, and her Ph.D. in Textiles and Clothing from Iowa State University. Her scholarship program currently focuses on consumer and textile/apparel education, consumer behavior of several target markets including adolescents and men, and sustainability of textile and apparel products.
Dr. Meyer-Brosdahl has been recognized with awards for teaching excellence and leadership and has received many grants, including three United States Department of Agriculture Challenge grants, for her scholarship. Her most recent Challenge grant was awarded to develop educational materials to enhance students’ understanding and practice of sustainability as future leaders in the textile and apparel industry.
Her teaching areas are in line with previous industry experience in retail buying and management. Dr. Meyer-Brosdahl is responsible for teaching courses in consumer behavior, research methods, forecasting, buying, and history of fashion. She is a faculty member for the Merchandising master’s degree program in the Great Plains Interactive Distance Education Alliance (GP IDEA). Dr. Meyer-Brosdahl also is an officer for the International Textile and Apparel Association, the main professional organization for the apparel and textile discipline.
