Short Biography:
Dr. Deb Canter came to K-State as a faculty member in 1977 after completing her PhD in Food Systems Administration at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She served as Director of the Coordinated Program in Dietetics from 1988 until she was named Graduate Program Director in 2000. She assumed the role of Department Head in 2004. Dr. Canter was recognized by the Carnegie Foundation as the CASE Professor of the Year for Kansas in 1991, by the American Dietetic Association with the Award for Excellence in the Practice of Dietetic Education in 1997 and with a Medallion Award in 2002. She is active in numerous professional, church, and community organizations, is an avid dachshund lover, and is known far and wide for her cheesecakes and love of all things culinary.
