Short Biography:

An award-winning reporter and editor, Jane Marshall worked for more than 25 years as a journalist at the Denver Post, Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Colorado Springs Gazette Telegraph and the Houston Chronicle. She is a founding member and past president of the international Journalism and Women’s Symposium and past president of the American Association of Sunday and Features Editors. She is the author of a children’s book and a food-writing blog. A food journalist and culinary historian, Marshall has written about food for the New York Times Newspaper Group, the Dallas Morning News, the St. Louis Beacon, the Detroit News and other newspapers throughout the country. She has presented papers and workshops at such diverse groups as the Kansas Nutrition Council, the Greater Midwest Foodways Alliance and the Associated Press. Her food writing class founded the webzine Kansas Food Journal. Grant work at K-State includes a Tilford for Food, Culture and Diversity and an engagement grant for Biscuits and Bison: The Great Plains Foodways Connection.
