Apparel and Textiles: Master’s and Ph.D.
Those pursuing a career in academia or who want to enhance their career in the fashion design, product research and development, or apparel marketing industries may want to consider the advanced knowledge of a graduate degree in apparel and textiles. The Department of Apparel, Textiles and Interior Design’s graduate programs build the theoretical and methodological skills necessary for graduates to solve complex human ecological problems involving apparel and textiles. Students choose to specialize in textile science, apparel design and production, and textile marketing.

Alumni Advice to Future Students:
“I liked the blend of design, textile sciences and marketing that my program had. It gave me an all-around knowledge of these three vital aspects of the industry, with an emphasis on design. I also liked the amount of computer-aided design training we had —Photoshop and Illustrator, along with hand sketching. This proved helpful at work as computer designing is really common in the industry.” — Laxmi “Kiran” Komogari, ’04 apparel and textiles, assistant designer, Haddad Apparel Group, New York
