Saunders honored as Human Ecology Partner

H. Duane Saunders will receive the Human Ecology Partner Award Friday.
He is one of seven being honored at the annual College of Human Ecology Celebration of Excellence.
Saunders is a leader in the field of clinical and educational physical therapy. A professional journal called him a “giant” in the field, lauding his contributions to research and development, clinical practice, professional education and military service. He is a retired colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve.
Sanders is founder of The Saunders Group, Inc., a leading supplier of physical therapy and sports medicine equipment and products headquartered in Minnesota. He and his wife Bonnie live in Eden Prairie, Minn.
The co-author of four textbooks used in more than 65 physical therapy schools, Saunders has donated valuable equipment to the K-State athletic training program.
He has provided significant support to K-State’s sports medicine program and H. Duane and Bonnie Saunders Sports Medicine Center. He also established the Col. H. Duane Saunders Excellence Fund; was awarded a K-State Alumni Fellow designation in 2006; and serves on the Kansas State University Foundation’s board of trustees.
The K-State alumni has degrees in physical education and adult and continuing education.
