Multicultural student honor society at K-State gains new members

MANHATTAN — Academic excellence has earned more than 20 students a place in Kansas State University’s Multicultural Student Honor Society.
Induction ceremonies were Oct. 7.
“The Multicultural Student Honor Society was founded in 1999 to honor the academic achievements of multicultural students who have been successful at K-State,” said Carla Jones, assistant vice president and senior associate dean of student life at K-State. Jones is also chair of the honor society’s advisory board.
“We created the honor society to reward multicultural students for their academic success,” she said. “To be eligible for the honor society, a multicultural student must have a cumulative K-State grade point average of 3.0 or above. Transfer students at the sophomore level with at least one semester at K-State also are eligible.”
New members of K-State’s Multicultural Student Honor Society include:
Jennifer Muhlbaier, sophomore in biology and premedicine, Anthony; Laura Biery, senior in print journalism and English, Berryton; Erica Freeman, sophomore in early childhood education, Bonner Springs; Olga Martinez, senior in biology and pre-dentistry, Dodge City; Kitt Lee, sophomore in fisheries, wildlife and conservation biology, Hutchinson.
From Junction City: Brittany Delaney, sophomore in kinesiology and pre-nursing; Karissa Dorleus, junior in communication sciences and disorders; and Aurora Lucero, senior in elementary education.
Adrianna Cobbins, sophomore in pre-medicine, Lenexa; Jose Uriel Estrada, senior in secondary education, Liberal.
From Manhattan: Laura Allred, junior in secondary education; Omar Branch, senior in psychology; Vickie Brown, senior in park management and conservation; Janet Guvele, senior in social work; and Noah Lovewell, senior in park management and conservation.
Barbara Monroy, senior in architectural engineering, Olathe; Edgar Bustillos, sophomore in pre-professional business administration, Sublette; Melissa Bruch, junior in human resource management, and Tiffany Harris, sophomore in premedicine and biology, both of Topeka; Marlene Ibarra, senior in social work, Tribune; and Brandon Gonzalez, sophomore in horticulture, and Deborah Muhwezi, junior in pre-journalism and mass communications, both of Wichita.
