Two K-State teams will compete in the international Interior Design Educators Council (IDEC) student design contest in Montreal, Quebec, March 5-8. They earned the honor by placing in the top three in the Midwest regional competition recently.
The teams are Eva Newill, Kara Schmidt and Catie Carpenter and Alison Hecht, Alexandra Sumpter and Haley Van Wagenen.
Student teams were challenged to design affordable housing within a pre-determined space of 4.5 meters by 15 meters.
“All regional and national winning projects are on display at the conference where they draw a lot of attention,” said Peggy Honey, assistant professor in Apparel, Textiles & Interior Design, College of Human Ecology. “When a program has two regional winners, it draws extra distinction.”
Honey mentored the teams.
