Kettering films health care forum

Cameras rolled Tuesday as Charlie Griffin, assistant research professor in FSHS, moderated a public forum on health care at the KSU Alumni center.
A film crew from the Kettering Foundation taped as 13 people from the Manhattan area talked about their experiences with health care – ranging from preventive medicine to medical tourism in which patients seek medical care in other countries.
“Coping with the Cost of Health Care: How Do We Pay for What We Need?” was the topic. Video excerpts will be used at a national presentation for policy and decision makers in Washington D.C. in March.
Griffin, an associate with K-State’s Institute for Civil Discourse and Democracy (ICDD), lead a similar forum in Abilene this fall.
The Kettering Foundation is a nonpartisan, nonpolitical research organization. Its collaborative research focuses on “What does it take to make democracy work as it should?” Program topics are public education, community, public choice, institutions, government and international.
ICDD is a non-partisan agency bringing together a diverse group of scholars and practitioners to address the relationship between democracy and civic discourse.
